What is spiritual direction?
The first word in the Rule of St. Benedict is "listen." This is precisely what spiritual directors do. Spiritual direction is about offering a space where deep, intentional listening can take place. The focus is on helping you explore your spiritual life and deepen your connection with the sacred in your life.

Unlike therapy or pastoral counseling, which focus on emotional or psychological healing, spiritual direction is centered on your inner spiritual journey. The spiritual director is a companion who listens carefully and asks thoughtful questions that invite you to reflect more deeply on your spiritual experiences, helping you grow in awareness and understanding of the sacred in your life.

This process isn’t about giving advice or solving problems, but rather about fostering a relationship with the Divine, and nurturing your spiritual practices, whether through prayer, meditation, or contemplation. Spiritual direction creates a sacred space where you can listen more closely to your own heart and spirit, as well as the ways the sacred moves in your life.

The practice of spiritual direction has its roots in the Christian tradition, emerging from centuries of guidance offered by monastics, mystics, and spiritual mentors who helped individuals deepen their relationship with the Divine. However, while it originates from this Christian heritage, spiritual direction has evolved into a practice that is accessible and beneficial to people from all spiritual paths. I work with clients from a variety of religious and spiritual traditions. My role is to support you in your own spiritual journey, regardless of your background, by creating a space for deep reflection and meaning-making.
